The Girls on the Run researched-based 8-week curriculum is structured around understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and recognizing how we can shape the world at large. Participants gain critical life skills that strengthen their potential at a time when societal pressures and conflicting messages about how to feel and act can cause doubt and uncertainty. Trained volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. Camp GOTR (summer camp) provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for girls of all abilities to develop self-confidence and learn life skills in a fun, collaborative environment. Girls build friendships through interactive games, enjoy physical activities, and express creativity through arts and crafts and storytelling. Led by caring and qualified Girls on the Run coaches, Camp GOTR combines the best of the Girls on the Run program with all the fun of camp. We are committed to ensuring access for all participants, regardless of their financial situation. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We recognize that many girls face challenges that make reaching their potential more difficult than their peers. Research shows that Girls on the Run positively impacts all participants and has the greatest impact on girls who enter the program with lower perceptions of their physical, social, and emotional competencies. This knowledge further underscores our responsibility to provide welcoming and inclusive programming to all girls.
